Sometimes tooth decay has gone too far into the tooth and affects the nerve and pulp tissue inside the tooth. When this happens the nerve and pulp tissue need to be removed from inside of the tooth and an inert filling material needs to be placed in the area where the nerve and pulp tissue once was. Many people let the decay get to a point where it causes them a lot of discomfort. We hope you will have your tooth checked before this happens, but if you do not have your tooth checked in time; Dr. Masera does perform root canal therapy. Once the procedure is performed, patients experience relief and the tooth is fine.
Every once in a while a tooth cannot be saved. If the tooth is too severely decayed or perhaps it is fractured, you may need to have the tooth removed. Dr. Masera will help you determine whether the teeth needs to be extracted and go over the alternatives of tooth replacement with you. Many times the tooth can be replaced with an implant or a bridge. Dr. Masera also removes wisdom teeth.
